i am seventeen years of age and have been born into christianity by my parents.
for some reason i havent really been all that into going to my christian church.
some of the things we discuss are very confusing.
Positives:
You will learn to be blindly obedient
You wo't have to think for yourself ever again
No decisioon making !! all done for you
Lots of leisurely outdoor activity, walking door to door for hours
All the coffee you can drink
No having to eat crackers and wine that have been breathed on by everyone.
That's a start, I'm sure there's many more.
have you read this book?
mindful eating: a guide to rediscovering a healthy and joyful relationship with food (paperback), by jan chozen bays (author).
mr. rebel8 and i are reading it right now to eat healthier.
Mindfulness is a zen technique that is popular in psychiatry these days. We went through therapy that was based on mindfulness. It worked wonders for all of us. Even my Dub husband learned something from it.
I definitely want to read this book.
i followed my instincts that the changes my 14 year old son is going through ran deeper than teenaged angst and i made an appointment for him to see a counselor through the county so he could talk to someone.
it took two months to get it.
we went yesterday, he and i. i spoke for a little about our life now, including the separation, the house, the jws, the shunning, my husbands alcoholism and his treatment of the kids, my husbands familial bipolar and depression and adhd...and then she spoke to my son separately.
Everyone is giving you good advice. I have two children who have been hospialized several times, it's never easy.
I can add is to make sure he gets a thorough physical. While my kids have chronic depression, my son also had undiagnosed Crohns disease and my daughter had a thyroid condition. Treating these problems helped their depressions too.
This is not going to be a quick fix type of problem. Accept what he says, even if it hurts. With a therapist's help you will find the middle ground and have a good relationship in spite of the depression. Get some rest while he's in hospital, you need to take care of yourself.
You have my prayers and best wishes.
someone i know is having a hard time with anxiety attacks.
she hasn't been a jw since a teen.
recently she has started seeing a therapist.
When I was a child I was very anxious about hoe I would take care of my chronically ill mother when the persecution started.
This led to all kinds of obsessive thoughts about what the "bad" people could use to toture us, knitting needles, curling irons, kitchen utensils ect.
I was a very lonely, impressionable child who read everything I got my hands on. The articles about the Nazis and Malawi caused a lot of problems for me.
It wasn't until I left the Witnesses that I finally calmed down and lost a lot of the panic and anxiety.
The pictures of Armageddon bothered me, but not as much as the descriptions of persecution did.

Hi Tea Drinker, welcome.
I drink all kinds of tea, but usually PG Tips with a spoonful of raw sugar.
I usually have some camomile-peppermint tea in the evening.
My daughter makes her own iced tea by putting tea bags in her bottled water, like making sun tea,. She likes pepperint but any kind will do
Amazing- I don't know where you're located but where I live on almost any sunny day we watch the planes putting out trails that turn into clouds.
I live near three fairly large airports, when regular airplanes go over, they leave a short contrail that very quickly disperses.
The chemtrails are put out in patterns that linger for a few minutes and then spread out to make a haze or a strange looking cloud cover.
I live in New York state, but I travel quite a bit and have seen the same phenoninon all over, even in the UK and France.
whenever i saw people with signs against the witnesses outside the assemblies, it always strengthened my belief that the witnesses were right.. what about you?.
bf.
I ignored them for years until about three years ago and my oldest daughter and I were already on the edge of the way out.
We were walking towards the entrance of the arena and there was a line of Witnesses standing with their backs towards the people with signs, blocking them people from approaching the protestors. Some of the "brothers" were young, maybe 12 or 13 years old. We both agreed that it was a terrible thing to make those children treat people like that.
Later, we heard one of the sign people talking through a microphone saying "Come on guys" and talking to some of the Elders that he evidently knew personally. He might or might not have gotten through to whoever he was talking to, but he reached us.
We haven't been back to a DC, but if we do, I'm buying coffee for the people with signs,.
well, it's been 11 months since the whole thing started and i am ecstatic that she will finally be coming home.. .
it's somewhere between 2 weeks to a month before she comes home.. .
so first thing we need some stuff..... .
Sending lots of positivity your way! Blessings to both of you.
